Delhi: Cyber fraud against Joint commissioner of police

A case of cybercrime has been registered from the national capital city, targeting the Joint Commissioner of Police in the Delhi Police, who faced an unauthorised transaction of Rs. 28, 150. A case has been registered under sections 420 and 419 of Indian Penal Code, based on the complaint, against the fraudsters.

New Delhi:The cases related to debit/ credit fraud are constantly targeting common people. But, this time, a high ranking police officer himself fell into the trap.

The victim identified as Atul Katiyar who is the Joint Commissioner of Police in the Delhi police filed an FIR in the special cell of cybercrime branch.

According to the information, the officer has been defrauded of Rs. 28,150, by using the card's information.

In the complaint to the cyber cell, he stated that Rs. 10,000 was debited from his account through PhonePe app and other transaction of Rs 18, 150 was debited from his SBI card.

He added that none of these transactions was made by him. As soon as, it came to his notice, he called the customer care service and blocked the card.

Despite blocking the card, fraudsters made an attempt to make an unauthorised transaction of Rs. 20,000. But the transaction went in vain as the OTP failed.

Since the case is linked to the Joint commissioner of police, the cyber cell is investigating the matter very seriously.

A case has been registered under sections 420 and 419 of Indian Penal Code, based on the complaint, against the fraudsters.
