More arrests likely in Delhi factory fire incident
The Delhi Police said that more arrests are likely in connection with the factory fire in Anaj Mandi area here that claimed 43 lives.
Police said the owners of the ten small scale factories at the accident site are also responsible for the lives lost in the fire and therefore, more arrests are likely in the case.

Expressing grief and anguish over Delhi fire tragedy that claimed 43 lives on Sunday morning, CPI (M) National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has demanded a thorough investigation in the matter.
"Apart from the compensation which is being announced by the governments, the cause behind the incident must be ascertained so that such tragedy is not repeated and Delhi becomes a better place," said Yechury.
CPI (M) leader urged both central and the state government to make efforts to that such incidents are never repeated.
"If the norms were violated, the culprits must be booked and action should be taken against those who are responsible behind this," demanded the senior CPI (M) leader.

Short-circuit immediate cause behind Delhi fire, says Hardeep Singh Puri
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that short circuit was the 'immediate cause' behind the fire that broke out in Anaj Mandi at Rani Jhansi Road in Delhi but added that investigation is required to find out the real cause.
"The immediate cause is short circuit but we need to wait for the investigations to be completed to get to the root cause. It needs to be seen whether the problem lay with the industrial development or the fire department," Puri told reporters after he visited the incident site alongwith Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwary.
The Union Minister said the Delhi police and the fire team had promptly taken action in the matter.
"Delhi police and the fire department were informed about the incident on 5:22 am and they reached quickly to begin rescue work," he said.

Sonia condoles loss of lives in Delhi fire incident, urges authorities to provide all assistance
Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday expressed her deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the fire at a factory here and urged authorities of the central and state governments to provide all assistance to victims and their kin.
Gandhi expressed "deep shock and dismay" at the horrendous fire accident in a factory in Anaj Mandi area that has claimed several innocent lives.
"Expressing her deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of over four dozen deceased in the tragic accident, Gandhi hoped that maximum lives will be saved and those injured are treated expeditiously," a party statement said.
She urged authorities of central and state governments to provide every assistance to victims and their families.
Gandhi also asked Congress leaders and workers to assist the authorities in every manner possible.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday expressed her deepest condolences to the families of those killed in a massive fire at a factory in Delhi and said she was saddened by the tragic incident.
A fire swept through a factory in Anaj Mandi area of north Delhi this morning, leaving 43 labourers dead and many others injured.
The chief minister wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the fire incident.

Factory's owner absconding, FIR filed against him
Delhi Police on Sunday said the owner of the factory in Anaj Mandi, where a blaze killed 43 people, is currently absconding and an FIR has been registered against him.
"Rehan, the owner of the building against whom a case has been registered under section 304 (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code, is currently absconding," Delhi Police DCP North Monika Bhardwaj told media.
The case has been transferred to Crime Branch, Delhi Police PRO MS Randhawa said.

Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain said that an investigation will be conducted into the incident.

At least 43 persons were killed as fire broke out at a factory in Delhi's Anaj Mandi area
New Delhi:A massive fire swept through a factory in Anaj Mandi area of north Delhi on Sunday morning, leaving 43 labourers dead and many others injured, police said.
A total of 59 people were inside the factory operating from a residential area when the blaze broke out, they said.
The fire was reported at 5:22 am following which 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
Chaotic scenes were witnessed at the site of the fire incident with relatives and locals rushing to the area.
Atul Garg, Chief Fire Officer said, "Till now we have rescued more than 50 people, most of whom were affected due to smoke."
Rescue operations are presently underway.
Earlier, Sunil Choudhary, the Deputy Chief Fire Officer of the Delhi Fire Service told the fire has been doused and the rescue operations are underway.
