New Delhi: The Delhi government has decided against the use of old vehicles in the National Capital Region, taking pollution and the order of the Supreme Court in the matter into account. According to latest decision, 10-year-old diesel vehicles and 15-year-old petrol vehicles won't be allowed to operate on the roads of Delhi-NCR. In this regard, the Delhi government has also issued a public advertisement citing is a ban on running old vehicles.
The public advertisement by the Delhi Government cited the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order on 7 April 2015 on this issue. The Supreme Court has also issued a similar order on 29 October 2018.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had also said in its order that vehicles can be confiscated for violating this direction. This order is also being linked with the recently introduced Vehicle Scrappage Policy issued by the Central Government.
