New Delhi: Just as Delhi Rohini Court firing incident has raised serious questions about security, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana who admitted to the fact that there was a security lapse maintained that it was not a 'gang war'.
Asked about reports of non-working metal detectors at one of the entrances, he said, "The question on whether the metal detectors were working or not in the court premises is a matter of investigation and I cannot comment on that at the moment. We are already investigating the case and we shall not spare anyone who is involved in this shootout. No one will be spared."
Earlier, on Friday afternoon notorious criminal and gangster Jitender Mann 'Gogi' was shot dead by two assailants of a rival gang operated by Sunil alias Tillu Tajpuriya at Room number 207 of Rohini court in northwest Delhi, said sources. The counter intelligence team of the special cell escorting Gogi opened retaliatory fire at the assailants killing two of them on the spot, who were disguised as lawyers, sources added.
Gogi received five to six bullet injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead by doctors.
Gogi along with three other accomplices was arrested in 2020 by the special cell of the Delhi police. It is pertinent to note that a reward of Rs 8 lakh by the Delhi Police has been announced ahead of his arrest. He was involved in several criminal cases and was in Tihar jail.
Notably, there was a gang war simmering for almost a decade between the slain Jitendra Gogi and Sunil alias Tillu, a resident of Alipura. Over 20 members of the two gangs have been killed, while many others have barely survived attempts on their life, add sources.
