Delhi cop hits woman with car; arrested

A Delhi Police sub-inspector has been arrested by the police after he ran an alto car over an old woman in east Delhi on Friday evening. The whole incident was recorded on the CCTV camera. The woman is reported to be stable, and a case has been registered against sub-inspector Yogendra.

New Delhi: An elderly woman has been hit by a speeding car in Chilla Village near Ghazipur area on Friday. The driver identified as sub-inspector Yogendra has been arrested by the police.

The whole incident was recorded on the CCTV camera which shows the speeding car with the woman on its bonnet.

Passers-by run to the woman's rescue and try to lift her from the road, but, the driver starts the car again, runs over the woman, and drives straight ahead.

"Yesterday at 6.35 pm, a young man was rashly driving an alto car. He ran over a woman, and when passers-by run to rescue her, he was ready to hit them too. We caught him at some distance and handed him over to the police," one of the eye-witnesses said.

The woman has been identified as Ajita Rani and is reported to be stable.

A case has been registered against sub-inspector Yogendra.
