Deadly attack on SAIL chairman in South Delhi

Four miscreants brutally thrashed Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) chairman, Anil Kumar Chaudhary with iron rods in Hauz Khas Village of South Delhi. Anil who was admitted to AIIMS has been discharged. Police have arrested two accused on the spot while a search is underway for others involved in the attack.

New Delhi:The Chairman of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Anil Kumar Chaudhary was brutally assaulted by four miscreants in South Delhi's Hauz Khas Village, police said on Thursday. Police arrested two accused from the spot.

Reportedly, Anil was on his way back to his home from the office when he was attacked.

Around 10: 30 pm, four persons, who were driving Honda City, hit Anil's Altis near Hudco Place and then thrashed him brutally with iron rods. Anil's driver was also beaten badly.

Fortunately, patrolling personnel of the Defense Colony police station was roaming near Hudco place and rescued the man who was later identified as SAIL chairman.

Immediately, police caught the two accused from the spot and Anil was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Center.

Anil received stitches in his leg and got several bruises on his body. After the treatment, has been discharged from the hospital.

The two arrested accused are Amarjeet and Lalit, who are residents of Delhi, police said.

The arrested accused Amarjeet, a labourer, and Lalit, a thief, were intoxicated at the time of the incident, police said.

The case is being investigated from several angles including robbery.

Meanwhile, SAIL has expressed its displeasure over the matter and demanded that the accused be arrested immediately.

The arrested accused are being questioned and the search is on for the absconding ones.
