New Delhi:Many migrant workers who flocked at Anand Vihar Interstate Bus Terminus on Sunday complained that nationwide lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic has rendered them unemployed and homeless.
According to reports, most of these migrant workers were already suffering the wrath of Delhi's violence as their daily wage work came to a halt. Further, the nationwide lockdown escalated their everyday problems.
Migrant workers including women stood in a long queue in front of Anand Vihar bus terminus to return to their distant villages located in UP, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
"I have been dreadfully suffering for past two months now, initially it was Delhi violence that took away my daily wage work, now it is nationwide lockdown that has completely left us with no choice," Shivlal, a migrant from UP said.

He also added that his family had to walk for over a 100 km to board the bus but after reaching the bus terminus, he was informed that the bus services will not be operational.
"I have two kids, they didn't get food for past two days, we have got no support from the govt, landlord on the other hand kept troubling us and asking for rent. I don't have savings, why shouldn't I return to my village if such is the scenario," he added.
However, in order to avoid crowding, police asked migrants to stand in three queues and deboard the overcrowded buses.
Despite PM Modi's call for a nationwide lockdown in the battle against deadly COVID-19, many migrant workers travelled on foot for several kilometres after the transportation in Delhi came to a halt following the lockdown.
