New Delhi:Members of the Delhi unit of Congress party on Tuesday gheraoed Union Home Minister Amit Shah's residence in the national capital demanding his resignation over the Pegasus snooping issue. Hundreds of Congress workers gheraoed Shah's residence under the leadership of Delhi Congress president Chaudhary Anil Kumar. As the demonstration intensified, Delhi police detained all the Congress workers including the state president and they were taken to the nearest police station.
During the protest, Delhi Congress president alleged that the phones of politicians and journalists are being tapped by Union Home Minister. "Phones of politicians and journalists are being tapped. Even our senior leader Rahul Gandhi's phone was tapped. What society are we living in after all? The journalists who are the fourth pillar of the Indian democracy are also under threat. All this is happening at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah," Kumar claimed.
