New Delhi: Congress, on Tuesday, hit out at the Center for 'jeopardizing' with the health and well being of Doctors, Nurses, and Health Professionals who are directly engaged in the fight against Coronavirus, by not providing protective equipments to them, while calling it as a 'gross criminality'.
While commenting over the recent tweet of a Government doctor of Haryana, Congress Chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "Dear Prime Minister Modiji, on 22nd of March, at 5 o'clock the all clapped for our doctors nurses and health professionals for fighting with coronavirus. But these defenders of our nation do not want 'Thaali-mention' or 'Taali-mention', they need protection and that is what they are demanding from you."
Slamming the government over the lack of essential medical equipments, he said, "Do you even know that today India needs 7,25,000 Hazmat suits, 60 lakhs N-95 masks for all health professionals, 1 crore three ply-masks immediately, but none are available. They are not available because the Health Ministry and the Textile Ministry, between Feb 1 to March 31, did not even decide specifications for the manufacturing of these equipments. This is a gross criminality. Secondly, whatever equipments were available in India, the Commerce Ministry permitted the export of all these things till March 19."
