New Delhi:Congress party on Thursday hit out at BJP-led Central Government over the killings of 20 Indian Army soldiers by Chinese troops at Ladakh's Galwan Valley, while seeking a reply on what "forced" our soldiers to go unarmed and why.

In a statement of Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, it has been stated, "It is now clear that China has committed an unforgivable crime. Chinese troops deliberately attacked our brave soldiers with rifle bayonets, iron rods, thorn barbed sticks and other weapons. The minds of 130 crore people of India are shaken while thinking about the cruel and shameless manner in which our brave soldiers were martyred. It is most shocking, disrespectful and painful thing."

He further added, "Today, there is so much of anguish in every mind. The entire nation is pained not only by the unsatisfactory toleration of the brutal martyrdom of the Mother India but also the resentment as to why and who forced them to go unarmed to tackle our enemies."

Congress is continuously raising questions on the Central Government while urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take the nation into confidence over the matter.

The Congress leader also sought PM Modi or Defense Minister Rajnath Singh's reply on why the Indian Army soldiers were sent to the enemies unarmed and who had given them such orders, why was the armed 'backup force' not available to protect them in accordance with Army protocol and why the Government did not have prior information about China's hostile intentions of a conspiratorial attack on our soldiers.

"Is the huge mistake in understanding the intention of China not a symbol of the gross failure of the Central Government and its leadership?" asked Venugopal.

He also lashed out at the Government, saying, "The country has to pay the price of the diplomatic lapse of Delhi's rulers who always beat their own 'strong leadership' day and night by the martyrdom of military officers and soldiers."

PM Modi has also called an All-party meeting, on Friday, to discuss the matter of border tensions between India and China.
