New Delhi:After attending the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, which was held in New Delhi on Saturday, Bihar Congress president Madan Mohan Jha said that the party will most likely announce a new president over the next two days.
In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Jha said, "Every member has given an opinion and we have informed the senior leaders accordingly. I feel that they would come up with a name in the next two days."
UPA chairpersons Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will not be part of the decision-making process as they walked out of the meeting midway.
The CWC has formed five committees for the election of the president and has sought opinions from the state unit leaders. The party's top decision-making body reassembled at 8 pm o Saturday to discuss the suggestions made by the group of leaders.
On being asked about CWC's appeal to Rahul Gandhi to continue as the party chief and to reconsider his decision to quit as party chief, Jha said that not only CWC but most party leaders want him to continue as the President as it is for the prosperity of party.
