CJI Bobde wanted Shahrukh Khan to mediate Ayodhya dispute

Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, wanted actor Shahrukh Khan to be a part of the Ramjanmabhumi-Babri masjid dispute's mediation process, said Senior Advocate Vikas Singh in the farewell function hosted for the outgoing CJI.

New Delhi: During a farewell function hosted for Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, senior advocate Vikas Singh has revealed that the Chief Justice wanted Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan to be a part of the mediation process of the Ramjanmabhumi-Babri Masjid dispute.

Justice Bobde was part of the five-judge constitution bench that heard the Ayodhya dispute and pronounced its verdict in 2019. Senior Advocate Singh said that during the initial hearing of the matter, Justice Bobde talked to him about involving Shahrukh Khan as the lawyer knows the actor personally.

Shahrukh Khan was more than willing to be part of it but then the mediation was called off and the court decided the matter. Justice Bobde held a strong view that the Ayodhya matter should be settled through mediation, said Singh.
