Chirag Paswan writes to PM modi, urges to allocate oxygen plant to Bihar

Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to allocate at least 15 oxygen plants to Bihar.

New Delhi: Stating that there is an "oxygen emergency" in Bihar amid the second wave of COVID-19, Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan on Tuesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to allocate at least 15 oxygen plants to Bihar.

Earlier, the Centre cleared the allocation of funds for the installation of 551 dedicated Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) medical oxygen generation plants to be set up inside public health facilities across the country.

This comes after PM Modi's direction to boost the availability of oxygen to hospitals amid a surge in Covid cases in the country as India battles an oxygen crisis.

Chirag in his letter raised concern over the oxygen shortage in hospitals in his parliamentary constituency Jamui and thereby requested for an oxygen plant to be set up there also.

A total of 11,801 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Bihar on Monday escalating the virus caseload to 4,15,397, with capital Patna being worst-hit in the state, health department bulletin said.
