New Delhi: In a letter issued by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been asked to vacate the bungalow allocated to her in Lutyens Bungalow Zone (LBZ), citing the reasons of the withdrawal of SPG protection to her. However, Congress party called it a move of "vendetta politics" of BJP Government, while asserting that "their fight will go on".

Notification issued by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs

"In 2019, Center has withdrawn SPG protection of Sonia ji, Rahul ji and Priyanka ji as a part of their vendetta politics. We all know that SPG protection was given to them after the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. But today's order of the Central Government shows the disgusting mindset of BJP. These politically motivated moves won't be able to stop our fight for people's rights," said Congress General Secretary Rajeev Satav, while speaking to ETV Bharat.

Congress Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate

Congress Spokesperson, Supriya Shrinate said, "It is very clear that Yogi ji and PM Modi ji is very scared of Priyanka Gandhi ji. It is because she always stood by the truth, raises questions on Government's policies. Under the influence of political vendetta, the Government asked her to vacate the house rather than vacating our territory from Chinese troops. But we'll continue our fight against the injustice of Modi Government."

Last year in November, Government replaced the SPG cover of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her children Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, with Z+ security by CRPF based on the threat assessment by security agencies.

Meanwhile, Punjab CM Capt Amrinder urged the Union Government to reinstate her SPG cover and restore accommodation in view of the threat perception which she continues to have as a member of Gandhi family.

UP Congress leader Rajiv Shukla also tweeted, "It is an inappropriate step to ask Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to vacate her house amid the threat over Gandhi family. Once, the former PM Gujral Sahab said that one can only rule with a big heart."

Congress veteran leader Raashid Alvi

While on the other hand, Congress veteran leader Rashid Alvi reminded BJP about the UPA tenure, saying, "When BJP lost all the elections and only won 2 seats, our former PM Rajiv Gandhi passed a bill in Cabinet to provide cabinet status residence to all opposition party leaders, so that Atal Bihari Vajpayee can stay in a cabinet status residence. When Amit Shah ji came to Delhi, he stayed at his residence of Akbar Road, not even being an MP. This was the Congress party."
