New Delhi: Thousands of people, who were recently deployed as marshals in the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, have become jobless as Delhi Government no longer requires their services.

A number of people, who gathered outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's official residence here, told ETV Bharat that they were removed from their jobs without any prior notice, and were left jobless.

"We had resigned from our previous jobs to work as marshals. With Delhi Government asking us to leave, we are left with no job now," one of the persons said.

He said that no government official or the leader of the ruling party was ready to listen to us.

Another woman also expressed similar views, demanding that they should be given their job back.

On being reminded that it was a short term appointment, they said that the people inducted as marshals were misled and cheated.

Kejriwal had addressed newly recruited bus marshals at the Tyagraj Stadium, saying their number would be increased to 13000.

"These 13,000 marshals will also help sick people and deal with any other emergency situations. Delhi is the only state where marshals are being deployed for the safety of people," the Chief Minister had said at the occasion.
