BJP's defeat in Delhi is Modi-Shah's defeat: Akhilesh Singh

Congress leader Akhilesh Singh has termed BJP's defeat in Delhi elections as the defeat of party leaders Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He alleged that it was because of the BJP taking up issues like Shaheen Bagh and CAA that the people in Delhi did not choose it.

New Delhi:While the Bharatiya Janata Party found itself at the defeating end in the Delhi Assembly polls, the Congress-RJD coalition could not even win a single seat.

Talking to ETV Bharat in this regard, Congress MP from Bihar Akhilesh Prasad Singh said that BJP's defeat is in fact, is a defeat of Amit Shah and Narendra Modi.

"We accept the people's decision and promise to analyse the criteria in which we lacked. We also congratulated Arvind Kejriwal for his victory in the national capital," he said.

Further targetting the BJP, he said: "The BJP tried to win seats on issues like Shaheen Bagh, Pakistan and CAA but its shrewd politics was rejected by the people."

"They did not raise issues like unemployment and price rise that really matter to the public and hence the people showed them the way out of Delhi," he added.

He went on to say that "We did not want the Bharatiya Janata Party to win and it was eventually defeated by the common public, it is a defeat for PM Modi and Amit Shah."

The minister also said that the Delhi polls will have an effect on the upcoming Bihar polls, that are to be held later this year.
