New Delhi:The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Monday launched a scathing attack against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi by accusing it of widespread corruption to the tune of Rs. 2000 crore in a school construction project in the national capital.
Citing an RTI report, BJP's Delhi unit president and MP Manoj Tiwari, said: "We are exposing a scam in which Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia are involved. An RTI has revealed that some Rs. 2,000 crore was spent for the construction of classrooms in schools that could've been constructed with just Rs. 892 crore."
The BJP leader further accused the Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia of doling out the contract to their relatives: "As many as 34 contractors were given the contract for the construction project including several relatives of both the leaders (Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia). As much as Rs. 8,800 per square feet has been shelled out to construct rooms of the school. If one compares this with the construction of flats, one can buy flats for Rs. 1,500 per square feet. A top of the line five-star hotel also has a real estate value of Rs. 5,000 per square feet," he added.
