Congress will decide soon on Bihar CM candidate: Shakeel Ahmed

Congress leader from Bihar Shakeel Ahmed said that people of the state are looking for a change as Nitish Kumar government has failed to deliver on all fronts. He said issues such as Mahagathbandhan's chief ministerial candidate and seat-sharing among the members will be decided soon.

New Delhi: Weeks after his suspension from the Congress was revoked, former union minister Shakeel Ahmed has said 'Mahagathbandhan' (Grand Alliance) will soon decide if it would go to public in Bihar with a face of the chief ministerial candidate or without it.

Interacting with ETV Bharat, Ahmed, who was suspended from the Congress party after he contested as an independent candidate against a UPA candidate in Bihar in last year's Lok Sabha elections, said he would do whatever the party would assign him to do concerning the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.

"It will be decided by all parties concerned, it's an important issue and no off the cuff remarks could be made on the issue," he said, answering a query if the 'Mahagathbandhan' would contest with or without the face of the chief ministerial candidate.

Ahmad also expressed confidence over the seat-sharing issue among the 'Mahagathbandhan' constituents parties, saying when "aim is one, amicable solution is found without much of a problem".

"It's natural that all political parties would want to contest from more seats but the issue is to be decided by the member parties keeping in mind all factors that make it winnable for a particular party," he said.

The former minister also expressed confidence that people would vote for change, saying Nitish Kumar government has failed on all fronts and they are looking for a new government in the state.
