New Delhi: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Saturday accused the state government of violating the Supreme Court's order in the National Register of Citizen (NRC) verification process.
APCC President Ripun Bora told ETV Bharat: "The Supreme Court very recently has denied state government and central government's appeal for verification in the NRC update process. Ironically, the Assam government and NRC administrator has issued a notice to the thousands of people for re-verification. This is a gross violation of SC's order."
People have been asked to appear to the verification centre within 24 hours."If someone stays 400 km away, how can he or she reach verification centres! This is total injustice," said Bora.
He further added that Government intends to delete more names from the draft NRC. Significantly, the final NRC will be released on or before August 31.
