New Delhi:The central government will provide food grains at cheaper rates to families living below the poverty line and to the physically disabled under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana. This government scheme, under the public distribution system, will provide 35 kgs of grains per family every month to BPL families and physically disabled.
Under this scheme, 20 kgs of wheat will be provided at a rate of Rs. 2 per kg and 15 kgs of rice at Rs, 3 per kg. This scheme is mainly for poor families living in urban and rural areas. Families whose annual income is up to 15000 are the primary beneficiaries. Potters, weavers, carpenters, rickshaw drivers, garbage pickers, landless agricultural labourers, fruit sellers, daily wage earners, etc will benefit under this scheme.
