New Delhi:As many as 700 Tablighi Jamaat members of Delhi, who have recently recovered from novel coronavirus, have come forward to donate their plasma for treatment of other Covid-19 patients.

The move comes after an appeal was made by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal last week to patients, who have successfully recovered from coronavirus, to donate their plasma for treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Spokesperson and advocate of Tablighi Jamaat, Mujibur Rahman said, "So far, about 700 Tablighi Jamaat people in Delhi have donated their plasma to Sultanpuri and Narela Quarantine Centre here. This number will increase even more in the coming days and Tablighi Jamaat returnees will do whatever it takes for those infected with the coronavirus."

"At the moment, we are taking blood plasma from the patients who don’t have diabetes and hypertension issues. The infection of coronavirus does not affect by seeing religion. At this time everyone has to remain united and we should appreciate whoever comes forward in the battle of Corona," Rahman said.

Notably, Tablighi Jamaat head Maulana Saad Kandhalvi also appealed to the organization’s followers who have recovered from the infection to donate their plasma.

After this appeal from Maulana Saad, the Tablighi Jamaaties in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Rajasthan, and other states, who have been cured of corona infection, decided to donate their blood plasma.
