New Delhi:Indian Railways on Wednesday informed that 34 Oxygen Expresses have completed their journey, delivering more than 2,067 metric tonnes (MT) of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) in 137 tankers.
So far, Delhi has received 707 MT LMO by Oxygen Express. In the wee hours of Wednesday, two Oxygen Express carrying 140 MT and 103.6 MT of LMO reached Delhi from Gujarat's Mundra and Hapa respectively. Another Oxygen Express, from Tatanagar, reached Faridabad on Wednesday.
So far, the Railways has delivered 174 MT of LMO to Maharashtra, 641 MT to Uttar Pradesh, 190 MT to Madhya Pradesh, 229 MT to Haryana and 127 MT to Telangana.

"Overcoming all hurdles and finding new solutions, Indian Railways is continuing its journey of bringing relief by delivering liquid medical oxygen to various states across the country. It is Indian Railways endeavour to deliver as much LMO as possible in the shortest time possible to the requesting states," the Ministry of Railways said in a statement.
Covid care coaches
To cater to the demand of Gujarat and Nagaland that face a crisis due to COVID-19, Indian Railways has positioned its Covid Care coaches at Sabarmati, Chandlodiya and Dimapur.
As per the request made by the Gujarat government, the Railways has deployed 10 coaches for Sabarmati and six coaches for Chandoliya as mentioned in the Memorandum of Agreement with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Ten isolation coaches have been deployed in Dimapur, Nagaland.
The Railways also informed that 21 coaches are now made functional for medical exigencies at Palghar in Maharashtra. Two sets of oxygen cylinders are also provided in these coaches to meet any exigency.

In Maharashtra's Nandurbar, 14 new admissions were registered in the last few days, while 13 patients got discharged. Currently, 26 COVID patients are in isolation at this facility. So far, 104 patients have been admitted to such facilities.
"Railways has also positioned 11 Covid Care coaches (with one coach serving exclusively for medical personnel and supplies) at Ajni Inland Container Depot and handed over to Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Six patients were admitted and four discharged here," the Ministry of Railways said in a statement.
As per the latest record of the utility of isolation coaches positioned in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, they have cumulatively registered 162 admissions and 96 subsequent discharges. Presently, 66 COVID-19 patients are utilising the isolation coaches. More than 3,600 beds are still available at these facilities.
