New Delhi: Fifteen percent of the total population of the national capital are infected with coronavirus if the report of the serological survey, which was undertaken recently, is to be believed.

The study was conducted as Delhi was experiencing a rapid increase in the number of infected people.

It was a part of the new COVID-19 response plan prepared by the Delhi health department, as per the recommendations of the committee, headed by NITI Aayog member V K Paul.

A total of 20,000 tests were conducted across all the districts of Delhi, spanning all sections and ages. It was conducted between June 27 and July 5.

In serological surveillance, or Sero survey, blood serum of a group of individuals is tested in order to understand the prevalence of a virus in that region.
