At 106, Delhi man becomes oldest Indian to beat coronavirus

A 106 year-old man from Delhi defeated coronavirus and returned to his normal life in a matter of fortnight treatment.

New Delhi: A 106 year-old man from Nawabganj area of Delhi successfully fought off the deadly virus and recovered within 17 days of treatment, a source said on Wednesday.

According to reports, Mukhtar Ahmed tested positive for coronavirus on April 14. Further, he was undergoing treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital. A source said that he was discharged on May 1 after he tested negative for the COVID-19 test twice.

Mukhtar was suspected to have contracted the deadly virus from his son who is presently undergoing treatment in Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

"Initially, my father tested positive for COVID-19 thereafter my mother and brother and grandfather also reported positive for the infection. Although everyone has recovered, my father is under treatment and I am sure he will come out of it," Mukhtar's grandson said.
