World Tourism Day: Know about Mainpat, the unexplored hill station in Chhattisgarh

Mainpat village in Chhattisgarh is emerging as a popular tourist destination in Chhattisgarh. The hill station is situated on the Vindhya ranges and is also known for its exile Tibetan population. In line with UN World Tourism Organisation's overarching focus on skills, education and jobs throughout the year, World Tourism Day will be a celebration on the topic 'Tourism and Jobs: a better future for all.'

Surguja:Mainpat, a small remote village in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh is in the limelight as an emerging tourist spot, blessed with green pastures, waterfalls and deep valleys.

According to reports, Mainpat often termed as the 'Shimla' of Chhattisgarh, remained underrated until it made advancements in infrastructure including roads, hotels and resorts.

The hill station is situated on the Vindhya ranges and is also known for its exile Tibetan population. On World Tourism Day ETV Bharat explores the underrated hill station situated in the northern part of Chhattisgarh.

Besides, owing to a favourable climate, Mainpat finds increasing tourist footfall even in the times of summer. ETV Bharat spoke to various tourists and they urged for a renewed focus on Mainpat as a tourist destination.

"The state and Centre should provide more infrastructural facilities in the hill station," one of the tourists said.

Mainpat is also known as 'small Tibet' as several temples and Tibetan religious practices grace the magnificent hills.

Major attractions in the hill station include Dhakpo Shedupling Monastery, one of the most prominent monasteries and the breathtaking waterfalls- Fish point and Tiger point.

Even the eateries in the area have a blend of Indian snacks and Tibetan cuisines showcasing the confluence of two religious cultures. With needed government intervention, Mainpat will truly emerge as a 'paradise' with its picturesque beauty.

In line with UN World Tourism Organisation's overarching focus on skills, education and jobs throughout the year, World Tourism Day will be a celebration on the topic 'Tourism and Jobs: a better future for all.'
