Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh): Defying all odds two visually impaired students of District Institute of Education and Training, DIET Jukhala are appearing for the DLED first year examination.
A total of 52 children are appearing in this institution, of which 2 trainees are visually impaired.
Visually impaired trainees appear for DLED exams One of the trainees Imtiyaz Khan is suffering from 75 per cent blindness and Billo Devi is 100 per cent blind. Both of them are undergoing training in DIET Jukhala.
Regarding these two trainees, the teachers of DIET Jukhala say that they have been learning like the other trainees. Some special attention has to be paid to these trainees. However, with special help and attention provided by the teachers of DIET Jukhala, they easily grasp the subjects.
The teachers who are training them said that they both are like other students enrolled in the course. When it comes to taking the test, these two also perform like their other course mates.
However, Both of them are unable to write on their own. DIET Jukhala has made special arrangements to enable them to study here. The app is being used to teach both these students. After installing this app on their mobile phones, the reading material is scanned.

With the help of the app, all this reading material is converted in an audio format instantly, where both these trainees follow the audio. Among these two students, Billo Devi belongs to a very humble family hence she is not even able to buy a mobile phone, which was provided to her by the administration of DIET Jukhala.
This girl is completing her training, with the help of her mobile phone. Significantly, DIET Jukhala has taken special permission from the board for these two trainees who are unable to write. They have taken permission to provide these two special trainees with a scribe, who is less educated than them, to write for them and now both these students are giving first-year exam at DIET Jukhala.
There is now a scribe to write for them. He reads the questions for them. They dictate the answer to that question to the scribe who in turn writes the answer on their behalf in their answer sheets. Significantly, on behalf of the Board of Education, an additional time of one hour has been given to these two students during their exam.
At the same time, both these trainees say that they are getting full support from DIET Jukhala and with the help of the app, they are doing well in their studies and they are not facing any problem. They will soon complete their training from here and will stand firmly on their feet. They hope to present a new example for society.
