Toolkit case: Raman Singh submits written statement before Raipur cops

Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh refused to hand over his Twitter account to the police and also slammed the state Congress government and Sonia Gandhi over the issue while briefing the media here.

Raipur:The day after the Raipur police recorded statements of senior BJP leader and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh in connection with a fake toolkit circulation case, the latter submitted a written letter before the cops on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Singh refused to hand over his Twitter account to the police and also slammed the state Congress government and Sonia Gandhi over the issue while briefing the media here.

In his written statement Singh said that the Congress party is conspiring to confuse the people.

"The Congress is directing its workers to disrupt and discredit the schemes and programmes run by the Government of India. Unhappy and distressed by this act, I tweeted on 18th May with the purpose of telling the public the correct facts. The purpose of the tweet was to bring out the truth and remove the confusion in the common people," Singh said.

"I tweeted keeping the national interest in mind. On which once again a baseless FIR has been made under the pressure of the state government," he said.

Singh later told reporters the FIR was a Congress conspiracy, adding that 'police in Chhattisgarh was being governed by the Congress and not the law'.

The Raipur police on Monday recorded the statement of senior BJP leader and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh in connection with an FIR lodged on a complaint that he, party colleague Sambit Patra and some others had allegedly circulated a fake toolkit.

The FIR was lodged on the complaint of an NSUI functionary who claimed Singh, Patra and some others had circulated a fabricated toolkit using a letterhead of the Congress.
