Dantewada: A powerful improvised explosive device (IED) of 4 kgs was recovered by security forces on Sunday in Dantewada district.
"The recovery of the IED bomb was a result of search operation conducted by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel in Panchali village of the district," Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Pallav said.
As per the police, the explosive was placed in a steel container which was buried beneath the ground.
The IED was diffused later.
IED recovered in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada Earlier, one jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was injured in an IED blast in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district today.
The low-intensity blast of the Improvised Explosive Device was carried out by the suspected terrorist moments after a CRPF convoy passed through Gangoo village in South Kashmir.
Recently, a 5 kg bomb, planted by Naxals was recovered from Ravas forest in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district. The explosive was unearthed by a team of District Reserve Guards.
Last month, a Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) jawan was injured in an IED blast triggered by Naxals in Narayanpur district. The injured jawan was shifted to a local hospital from where he was airlifted to Raipur.
The Maoists plant the IEDs to target security forces during their operations on the route that passes through dense forests.
