Tribals protest against Ram Van Gaman Path Yatra

Tribal youths in Kanker protested against 'Ram Van Gaman Path Yatra' marking Bhupesh Baghel-led Chhattisgarh government's completion of two years in office. They ensured that soil was not taken from Kanker for the procession.

Kanker: The tribals protesting against 'Ram Van Gaman Path Yatra' allowed it to pass through the district only after ensuring that no soil was taken from here for the procession. The procession was organised to mark Bhupesh Baghel-led Chhattisgarh government's completion of two years in office.

Earlier, the tribals had blocked the National Highway-30, saying they would not allow the authorities to take soil for the 'Yatra' from Kanker. A large number of security personnel were deployed at the spot.

In Kulgaon , the police had a tough time in dealing with the locals who pushed the personnel while protesting against the procession. They had blocked the highway 10 km away from the district, warning that nobody would be allowed to enter or pass through the district.

They allowed the procession to pass through the district only after a two-hour-long talk with the officials. Their leader Sohan Potai was also present. They ensured that the procession would not stop anywhere.

The 'Ram Van Gaman Path' is referred to the route taken by Lord Ram during his 14 years of exile. The Ram Van Gaman tourism circuit project was chalked out to highlight the mythological and historical background of Chhattisgarh and its close association with the life of Lord Ram.

The yatra, which started on December 14, would end on December 17 at Chandkhuri after covering a distance of 1575 kilometre.
