Raipur (Chhattisgarh): In the wake of search operation carried out continuously by the jawans in Naxal-affected areas, Naxals are now resorting to remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to counter the security forces.
Naxals are resorting to remote-controlled improvised explosive devices A few days back, the security forces detected four remote-controlled IEDs with a battery-antenna configuration and petrol bombs in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, about 450 km from Raipur.
The unearth IEDs were connected to 12 Volt power batteries and with an antenna placed at the top of a nearby tree.
According to sources, the technique was used by the Maoist ultras possibly for the first time to target security forces in Bastar region.
The improvised explosive devices were found between Bodli and Malewahi villages under Barsur police station limits.
Speaking on this, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava said that the patrolling team found the IEDs, each weighing around 5 kilograms.
"The IEDs were connected to batteries and antenna to trigger a blast through remote control. The antenna was placed on the top of a tree so that remote can be used in detonating the blast from a far range," he said.
Pallava further said that Naxals have possibly used such techniques for the first time to target security forces in Bastar region.
It is to be noted that Naxals usually plant and detonate IEDs blasts targeting the forces, movement of political or official cavalcade in their planned ambush.
