Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2, 2014 to make India open defecation free, but the situation in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh is different.
According to reports, 200 toilets were to be constructed under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (MNREGA) in Totar of Kondagaon district but only one fourth of them have been completed till date. When asked about the issue CEO District Panchayat, Nupur Zaman Panna said," 50 toilets out of 200 toilets are constructed under MNREGA and others are under construction."
According to villagers, "The toilets have not been built in many houses and have been left unfinished."

Essentials of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM)
Under SBM, Swachh Bharat Mission, it is mandatory to construct toilets in all the villages by 2019 as PM Modi took a pledge to make India open defecation free.
