Sarguja (Chhattisgarh): A traffic police officer from Chhattisgarh has set an example by helping migrant workers in Ambikapur city in Sarguja district. For his dedication towards work, he has been praised by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Dev Narayan Singh Netam, a traffic police officer in Chhattisgarh's Sarguja district, posted as head constable in Ambikapur city has taken upon himself the responsibility of ensuring the safe return of migrant labourers to their native places.
On Saturday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal called up Netam and appreciated him for his duty and also lauded his unmatched dedication to ensure the safety of poor migrant labourers during the novel coronavirus crisis.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Netam said, "God has given me an opportunity to serve migrant labourers and provide them with some assistance at a time when coronavirus pandemic has spread everywhere. I have seen the sufferings of migrant labourers who are walking miles and miles on foot to stave off hunger. So I decided to provide them with food and other essential services. I am also transporting these migrant labourers up to their respective places by arranging private vehicles."
"I am very happy that the head of such a big state has appreciated my work and I got motivation from his words. Kejriwal Sir told that he is proud of my work and advised me to keep doing the work of humanity like this," he added.
