Dangerous Naxalite Santosh Markam killed in Dantewada encounter

The District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans have succeeded in neutralizing a dreaded Naxalite leader. On Sunday, an encounter happened between the DRG jawans and the Naxalites in the forest of Pordem. During the operation, the DRG jawans of Chhattisgarh killed Santosh Markam, a Naxalite leader with a reward of 5 lakhs.

Dantewada (Chhattisgarh): The District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans have succeeded in neutralizing a dreaded Naxalite leader. On Sunday, an encounter happened between the DRG jawans and the Naxalites in the forest of Pordem. During the operation, the DRG jawans of Chhattisgarh killed Santosh Markam, a Naxalite leader with a reward of 5 lakhs. The news has been confirmed by SP Abhishek Pallav.

The SP said that the police had received information about the presence of big Naxalite leaders in the forests of Kotem and Nilavaya. After getting the information, the team of DRG went out for a search operation. During this, the soldiers entered in a firefight with the Naxalites. During the firing from both sides, the DRG jawans killed a Naxalite. The jawans have recovered the body from the spot. The Naxalite has been identified as Malangar Area Committee member Santosh Markam.

The soldiers have recovered pistols, backpack and other materials from the spot. The government has announced a reward of 5 lakhs on Santosh. More than 25 cases are registered against the slain Naxalite in Aranpur police station. During the 2018 assembly elections, 3 jawans and a cameraman of Doordarshan were martyred in the ambush blast in Nilavaya. The mastermind of this incident was Santosh Markam.
