Chitrasen Sahu hoists tricolour at Australia's highest peak Mount Kosciuszko

After scaling Mount Kilimanjaro, nation's first double-leg amputee mountaineer Chitrasen Sahu has achieved success in hoisting tricolour at Australia's highest peak Mount Kosciuszko. He wishes to encourage amputees to be proud of their prosthetic limbs under the campaign ‘Show Your Metal’.

Raipur:Adding another feather to his cap, Chhattisgarh's Chitrasen Sahu hoisted the tricolour at Australia's highest peak Mount Kosciuszko (2,228 metres) on Monday to promote inclusion and accessibility.

Chitrasen had left for Australia from Raipur on February 28 and he became successful in hoisting the national flag on Mount Kosciuszko at 7.30 am (Indian time) on Monday.

He took this initiative under Mission Inclusion, a campaign which aims to send a message to authorities and the disabled community at large.

He wishes to encourage amputees to be proud of their prosthetic limbs under the campaign ‘Show Your Metal’.

Chitrasen had earlier entered history books as he became the first double-leg amputee mountaineer from India to scale the 5,685 metres high Mount Kilimanjaro, the dormant volcano in Tanzania, in September last year.

Chitrasen is an assistant engineer in the Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CGEB) and he lost his legs in an accident in 2014.

He was earlier a fulltime sportsperson and played cricket and basketball.
