Teacher uses pension to donate ventilator

Pusram Sinha's gesture comes as India battles a savage second wave of Covid-19 causing a huge shortage of medical oxygen to treat the patients.

Bemetara (Chhattisgarh):A 70-year-old retired teacher in Chhattisgarh used his entire savings of Rs 2.5 lakhs to donate a mini ventilator to a Berla Community Health Centre in Bemetara.

Pusram Sinha's gesture comes as India battles a savage second wave of Covid-19 causing a huge shortage of medical oxygen to treat the patients.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sinha said, "I have lived my life. I have already spent my entire life in joy. Saving the life of a person is more important. I hope my efforts can at least save some lives."

"Covid-infected patients are in desperate need of ventilators and in view of this, I have decided to donate a mini ventilator to Berla Community Health Centre. According to doctors, the machine is necessary for patients to maintain their oxygen level," Sinha said.

Dr Jitendra Kunjam, BMO of Berla said, "This device is very useful for patients in an emergency situation. After getting this mini ventilator machine, the needy patients of the area will benefit from it."
