Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh): The recent statement of Chhattisgarh State Women's Commission chairperson, Dr Kiranmayee Nayak has sparked controversy.

Speaking to ETV Bharat in this regard on Friday, Nayak said that in most of the harassment cases men are not at fault and it is the women who take undue advantage of the law.

Nayak said, "Women come to us for security after allegedly being harassed by their partners. I see that often girls who married minor boys are reaching us after a family dispute. We have seen several cases where, educated women deliberately make relations with married men and later, they report to the Commission and expect protection, which is wrong."

The Commission is with the women who are getting really harassed," she said.

"Most of the cases that have come to us where women are having illicit relationships without marriage. I appeal to every girl to look at their career first and go into relationships after the consent of the society," she added.
