Chhattisgarh: Police host marriage of estranged couple

Mahasamund (Chhattisgarh):A wedding that took place within police station premises in Bundeli village is making headline for its uncanny story.

When 29-year-old Suman Patel reached Bundeli Police station to lodge a complaint against her lover Ram Kumar Patel who she was dating for two years, the station-in-charge called the accused to listen to his side of the story too.

Suman wanted to press charges of dishonesty against 25-year-old Ram as despite promises he was not ready to marry her due to family pressure who have objection since the woman is older. But the officials there thought of listening to Ram's side of the story as well.

When Ram was summoned to the station, after much persuasion he agreed that he is in love with Suman but due to family objection he cannot marry her.

When the matter became clear, both Suman and Ram wrote to the police to provide protection to them and get them married immediately.

Following the written request, the station in-charge arranged for the duo's marriage in the nearby Shiva temple.

Suman's brother and other police officials became the witness of the wedding and following this, the couple was accepted into Ram's family as well.
