Under the leadership of SP Mohit Garg, personnel framed the strategy and they got into the dense woods of Abujhamad near Tadballa area to execute the encounter.
The personnel discovered a separate route via hills to reach the woods, 18 km from Indravati river, so that the Naxals did not come to know about their presence and flee.
After the encounter, the security forces recovered the bodies of 10 uniformed Naxals. Several arms and ammunition were also recovered from the spot. However, the villagers claimed that those killed in the encounter were not Naxals but their kin, whom the Naxals had invited to impart sports training.
After the unsuccessful Haka operation in 2011, the Bijapur police had again organised an encounter in the area in 2017, but in vain. However, this time they were able to bring down 10 Naxals.
