Raipur:Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday termed BJP's defeat in Karnataka as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's defeat saying south India is now 'BJP-mukt'.
"First we won Himachal Pradesh and now Karnataka. From the Himalayas to oceans, Congress has secured victory. They (read BJP) used to call for 'Congress-mukt Bharat' and now south India is 'BJP-mukt'," Baghel said while addressing a press conference.
The Congress leader said that the BJP had already realised that they would lose in Karnataka and so they had replaced Modi's pictures by their party president JP Nadda. "The election results are as per our expectations. BJP had used all strength to win the polls. They sought votes by keeping Modi in the forefront. So, this is Modi's defeat. It is evident that the Modi magic has ended. I congratulate the Congress state leaders and workers for this victory," he added.
Responding to the Bajrang Bali controversy in Karnataka, Baghel said: "You can see with whom Bajrang Bali has stood. Bajrang Bali's 'gada' (mace) fell on the head of corruption and it is end of the BJP in Karnataka," he said.

On poll preparations in Chhattisgarh, Baghel said that the farmers, adivasis, youths and backward classes are not with the BJP. As a result of this, BJP has been making allegations to defame the government, he said. Criticising the ED raids in Chhattisgarh, Baghel alleged that the BJP and the ED were colluding together. ED works on the directions of the BJP, he said.
"Even by mistake, have they (ED) ever raided any BJP leader? They are working as BJP agents and have become 'Bhasmasur'. 'Bhasmasur' can start chasing Lord Shiv one day then Lord Vishnu will have to send someone," he said.
