Durg (Chhattisgarh):Fighting all odds, Abhishek Singh, an auto-rickshaw driver's son from Chhattisgarh's Durg district, passed out from the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun as a part of the 147th course on Saturday.
Umesh Singh, father of Abhishek couldn’t stop his eyes from welling up with tears as he saw his son in an Army officer’s uniform at the Indian Military Academy's passing out parade on television.
A resident of Khurshipar and a Class XII science student, Abhishek had joined the Indian Army as a soldier in 2012 and was posted in 21st battalion of Rajput Regiment.
Later he worked hard there and prepared for Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) in 2017 and after that, he was selected for India Military Academy. Now, he has become an Army officer.
Recounting the struggles that he had to undergo before savouring this moment, the officer's father, said ETV Bharat, "Abhishek was a very good student from his childhood and he worked day in and out during recruitment days in the Army. Now he has become an officer from a soldier, which made the whole family very happy."
