With its cosmetic steps against terror groups, Pak trying to hoodwink international community: India

MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar reacted on the Pak step of lodging 23 cases against Jamaat-Ud-Dawa (JuD) chief and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed as 'cosmetic,' and said Pakistan is trying to make the international community fool by taking action against terror groups.

New Delhi:Pakistan is trying to hoodwink the international community with its "cosmetic" steps against terror groups, the External Affairs Ministry said on Thursday.

The MEA's response came after Pakistan claimed that it had "booked" Mumbai attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed and 12 of his close associates for "terrorism financing" in 23 cases, amidst growing global pressure on Islamabad to act against militant groups launching deadly attacks in India.

Speaking at a conference, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that Pakistan is trying to hoodwink the international community on taking action against terror groups.

He further maintained not get fooled by cosmetic steps against terror groups by Pakistan.

Last week, on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Osaka, Modi, who pitched for a global conference on terrorism, had said: “Terror is the biggest threat to all of humanity. It not only takes the lives of innocent people, but it has a huge adverse effect on economic progress and social stability. We have to stop all means of support and help available to terrorism…”
