New Delhi:To increase its earnings, Indian Railways is urging the people to give up the subsidies from their train tickets by implementing a scheme, 'Give it up'.
Indian Railways faces additional pressure in terms of earnings as it recovers only 53 per cent of the total cost of a ticket from the passenger. The rest 47 per cent is being used to give subsidies to the passengers.
Under the 'Give it up' scheme, passengers will have the option of buying train tickets with or without subsidy. This initiative is a part of the 100-day action plan of Indian Railways, which has been submitted to the Prime Minister's office (PMO).
