Will Indians accept non-subsidised train tickets to support 'Give it up' campaign?

Indian Railways is urging the people to give up the subsidies from their train tickets by implementing a scheme, 'Give it up'. The scheme offers passengers to opt for subsidy while booking a train ticket.

New Delhi:To increase its earnings, Indian Railways is urging the people to give up the subsidies from their train tickets by implementing a scheme, 'Give it up'.

Indian Railways faces additional pressure in terms of earnings as it recovers only 53 per cent of the total cost of a ticket from the passenger. The rest 47 per cent is being used to give subsidies to the passengers.

Under the 'Give it up' scheme, passengers will have the option of buying train tickets with or without subsidy. This initiative is a part of the 100-day action plan of Indian Railways, which has been submitted to the Prime Minister's office (PMO).

While speaking to ETV Bharat, many people agreed to give up from their subsidies to support railways initiative with a hope that these funds will be used for the development of Railways.

According to the sources, Railways are planning to advertise the 'Give it up' campaign aggressively on different media platforms urging the passengers to sacrifice their subsidies for the development of Indian Railways.
