New Delhi: Russian Ambassador to India Nikolay Kudashev on Tuesday reiterated Russia's support to India, over the latter's fight against terrorism emanating from neighbouring Pakistan.
Russian Ambassador to India Nikolay Kudashev Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Kudashev asserted that Russia stood with India amidst tensions with neighbouring Pakistan. Commenting on India's crackdown against terror in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack, he said, "We support India's call to list Masood Azhar as a global terrorist in the United Nations committee."
Stressing on the need for security cooperation between the two nations, he said, "We have a platform in Jakarta to discuss the security concerns in form of East Asian Summit and the two countries, India and Russia are also having bilateral talks on the matter of security and fight against terrorism. At the same time, the focus should also be on the free trade agreement between Eurasian economy and India for both countries to prosper".
Commenting on South Asian regional concerns, he added, "When we talk about South Asian security, the role of Afghanistan also becomes important and we need a stable Afghanistan for the betterment of security in the region."
On bilateral trade between the two nations, Kudashev said, "We are having a lot of arms and ammunition deals, but that is not all. Russia also happens to be a contributor to the strategic industry in Indian space such as energy, nuclear, oil, gas, and transportation sectors. These are the sectors which would be decisive for the development of India and we are a proud contributor to these sectors."
Talking about the importance of the Indo-Russian partnership in world politics, he said, "The trade and social cooperation that these two countries have can lead to building of a new regional order and could also make a mark in the new Global order together by having a joint 'vision' for cooperation on trade and security."
