New Delhi: An employee of a private restaurant in Central Delhi has been arrested for allegedly cloning debit and credit cards of customers and duping them of nearly Rs 4 lakh, the police have said.
The accused has been identified as Pankaj Kumar, working as a steward staff at the restaurant.
On February 14, a private bank had filed a case that few of their customers reported disputed transactions over their credit and debit cards. Moreover, the cards were in possession of the customers at the time of those transactions, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Madhur Verma had said.
During the course of investigation, it was revealed that one of the restaurants in Connaught Place was the common point of purchase for all the cards. Police matched all the dates when the cards were compromised at that restaurant, and found that the accused - Pankaj, was the person who had attended all the customers whose cards had disputed transactions, Vermaremarked.
