Bihar women hold 'meet to sleep' protest against crimes

Vandana Sharma who's heading the movement said that Nirbhaya incident of December 16 is still fresh in people's memories and several incidents have been reported since then. By sleeping out in the open, we demand the authorities make India a safer place for everyone.

Muzaffarpur:Women and girls from Bihar's Muzaffarpur on Wednesday slept in an open ground in Patahin to protest against the crimes against women and demand a safer place for them.

In a movement called 'Meet to sleep' the women braved the cold and slept on the ground as a part of their protest.

Vandana Sharma who's heading the movement said that Nirbhaya incident of December 16 is still fresh in people's memories and even after that several incidents have been reported.

"The women and children still suffer from sexual abuse, rape and more such untoward incidents. By sleeping out in the open, we demand the authorities make India a safer place for everyone," she said.

Women from various areas in and around Muzaffarpur joined the meet to sleep movement.
