Unhygienic food served to Bihar flood victims

Unhygienic food is reportedly being served to Bihar flood victims, even after the state government has assured to provide quality food and clean drinking water to the masses.

Muzaffarpur:Despite the Bihar government's assurance to provide quality food and clean drinking water to the flood victims, shocking visuals has surfaced from a relief camp in Babhangama village in Bihar's Muzaffarpur.

In a video, insects are seen floating in the water while the food is being prepared for the flood victims. Moreover, the quality of the rice is also poor.

When the District Magistrate Alok Ranjan Ghosh was asked on the unhygienic food, he said, "No such incident has been reported to me so far. Our job is to provide every possible help to the masses. We as authorities are not doing any charity work but carrying out our duties."

As many as 199 relief camps have been set up so far, where 1.11 lakh people have taken shelter.

Bihar is witnessing floods as the water levels of the several rivers have been rising following heavy rainfall in the past few days.

Flash floods in Bihar have claimed 66 lives in the state and affected more than 25 lakh people in at least 12 districts.
