New Delhi: Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Tariq Anwar said that Bihar is facing the double attack of coronavirus and floods and is failing miserably in fighting both.

Further shedding light on the poor conditions of the government hospitals in Bihar, Anwar in an exclusive interview with ETV India said, "If a coronavirus positive patient goes to the hospital, he dies for sure. Everything is in God's hand. The centre should intervene soon and do what's necessary."

"Bihar assembly elections should not be held in this Corona period and should be avoided," he added.

He also said the Janata Dal-United (JDU) - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are amongst the most COVID infected.

The Ram Vilas Paswan lead Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has also supported the decision and has said that the election should not be held in the current situation. The parties of the grand alliance have told the Election Commission (EC) their stand on the issue.

While answering a question on the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case, Anwar said that the whole matter should be seriously investigated as it's been more than 45 days and no breakthrough has been made yet.

Adding that there should be a CBI inquiry where both the Mumbai and the Bihar Police should work in coordination he said, "It is very sad that Bihar Deputy CM and senior BJP leader Sushil Modi is making this incident an election issue. There should be no politics on issues like these."

Regarding the Bihar Mahagathbandhan, Anwar said that even though there are five parties in the alliance, the biggest party always dominates.

"Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is the biggest party but we want a coordination committee to be formed and have a unanimous decision on the issue of Chief Minister candidate. If a decision is taken unanimously and Tejaswi's name is decided, then the Congress too will contest the Bihar Assembly elections under his leadership," Anwar said.

Another thing that might be is that after the election, if a grand coalition government is formed, then the party which has the most MLAs will select the Chief Minister candidate.
