Streets waterlogged in Patna following heavy rainfall

Road in Patna were waterlogged following heavy rainfall in parts of Bihar. According to IMD, monsoon this year has covered the entire country 12 days prior to normal date.

Patna: Heavy rains lashed various parts of Patna on Sunday leading to waterlogging in streets and houses, including the residence of Nand kishor Yadav, Minister of Road Construction in the state government.

The situation slowed down vehicular movement in different areas.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and lightning in several parts of Bihar in the next 48 hours. The state has now been placed under a flood alert. According to IMD, monsoon this year has covered the entire country 12 days prior to normal date.

Heavy rains lash parts of Patna

Siwan, Gopalganj, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar will receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm, lightning and squalls, according to the weather bureau.

The Nitish Kumar-led government has said that financial help will be provided to people who suffer losses due to the floods. The chief minister secretariat also assured financial help to those who lost animals and cattle was also being extended.

The floods in Bihar claim more than a thousand lives every year, with lakhs of people left with nothing to survive on. It appears this year the people of the state have to face twin problem- floods and the coronavirus disease.

The Indian Meteorological Department itself has issued a warning for the state government to be prepared for the worst.
