New Delhi: After Rahstriya Janata Dal (RJD) national vice president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh resigned from the party on Thursday, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh said that it was "unfortunate".
"It is unfortunate. Over the years, we have known him as an enlightened politician. I had the privilege of working with him. Now, I dont know under what circumstances he resigned. He is availing treatment at the hospital, but his resignation is not good," Akhilesh Singh said.
Big setback for RJD ahead of polls
Earlier in the day, in a massive setback to Bihar's main opposition RJD ahead of the state assembly polls, its national vice president and former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh resigned from the party, but party supremo Lalu Prasad rejected it.
Singh, admitted to AIIMS, New Delhi, because of post-COVID complications, had earlier announced his resignation as the party vice president on June 23 but was persuaded by Prasad to stay back. He was reportedly unhappy with the party's functioning.

However, he wrote a letter from the hospital to jailed RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, and informed him that he was quitting the party. Yadav rejected his resignation, insisting he was not going "anywhere".
