New Delhi: With the Election Commission announcing the dates for the Bihar Assembly elections, Congress in-charge for Bihar Shaktisinh Gohil on Friday expressed confidence that the Mahagathbandhan would be elected to power in the state, as the people were fed up of the Nitish Kumar regime.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Gohil said, "The people of Bihar are fed up of the BJP-JDU alliance. They want to be liberated from this regime. The Election Commission today has announced the date of this liberation."

Gohil said the people of Bihar desired change

"I have full confidence that the Congress and the Mahagathbandhan will get a chance to serve the people of Bihar," he added.

On reports of disagreements within the Mahagathbandhan over seat-sharing and the Chief Ministerial face, Gohil said that the alliance partners will sit together and find a way.

"It is a politically vibrant state, and such things do happen. However, as we are fighting for an ideology, we will have to sit together, and we will find a way," he said.

With the RJD declaring Tejashwi Yadav as its CM face, Gohil said that the Mahagathbandhan will soon decide whether to go into the polls with a CM face.

"Every party has the right to announce its own leader. As far as the Mahagathbandhan is concerned, we will decide on what is best for the alliance, and every party will accept it," he said.

However, Gohil stopped short of confirming whether Upendra Kushwaha's RLSP and Mukesh Sahani's VIP would remain with the Mahagathbandhan.

"I do not put forward fake claims, but I do know that the people of Bihar desire change. They want for everyone to fight together to provide a good alternative, and I hope the same," he said.

"Bihar's people want a Mahagathbandhan CM and it will happen as we will get down on the electoral field with a positive agenda," he said.

Earlier today, the Election Commission announced that voting for Bihar assembly elections will be held in three phases -- first on October 28, second on November 3 and the third on November 7 -- while counting of all votes will take place on November 10.
